Jar of Hearts (Christina Perri, 2010)

Ending the week with Christina Perri‘s “Jar of Hearts“…

And who do you think you are?
Runnin’ ’round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts
And tearing love apart
You’re gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don’t come back for me
Who do you think you are?

Sweet Disposition, Love Lost (The Temper Trap, 2009)

The The Temper Trap is an indie rock band formed in 2005. They were originally from Australia then moved to London in 2008. Some of their songs were featured in movies like (500) Days of Summer and in episodes of several TV series like Chuck, Skins, and One Tree Hill. Among their songs, I really fell in love with “Sweet Disposition” and “Love Lost“. Here are the videos of these songs.

Just stay there
Cause I’ll be comin’ over
While our bloods still young
It’s so young, it runs
Won’t stop til it’s over
Won’t stop to you surrender

Our love was lost
In the rubble are all the things
That you’ve, you’ve been dreaming of
Keep me in mind
When you’re ready
I am here
To take you every time

If I Knew Then (Lady Antebellum, 2010)

“If I Knew Then” has been playing in my Ipod for weeks now. I don’t know, there’s just something so emotional and heartwarming with this song. The chorus is really my favorite part of the song.

Cause love only comes once in awhile
Knocks on your door and throws you a smile
And takes every breath, leaves every scar
Speaks to your soul and sings to your heart
And if I knew then what I know now
I’d fall in love

Just a Feeling (Maroon 5, 2010)

I was supposed to post this yesterday, but I fell asleep while typing this (Can you believe it?). Anyway, I’m itching to get my hands and ears to Maroon 5‘s newest album, “Hands All Over.” Been listening to the tracks in YouTube and it’s definitely a bad thing because it makes me crave for more. I keep screaming, ME WANTS! ME WANTS! ME WANTS! But I think I have to wait a couple of days for the moolah to arrive. *Evil grin*

For now, let’s indulge on these amazing tracks “Get Back in My Life” and “Just a Feeling”.

Not Afraid (Eminem, 2010)

Never mind his “ehh” statement regarding “Relapse“, the video and the song itself perfectly captures the message Marshall Mathers is trying to get across – an angsty rebellion, a wrecking realization and an ultimate recovery.

Not Afraid” on repeat in my music player for days just goes to show how I missed the Eminem music.

Key lyrics which are very thematic.

Whether he’s on salary, paid hourly
Until he bows out or he shit’s his bowels out of him
Whichever comes first, for better or worse
He’s married to the game, like a fuck you for christmas
His gift is a curse, forget the earth he’s got the urge
To pull his dick from the dirt and fuck the universe

To realization…

It was my decision to get clean, I did it for me
Admittedly I probably did it subliminally for you
So I could come back a brand new me, you helped see me through

…and recovery

I’m not afraid to take a stand
Everybody come take my hand
We’ll walk this road together, through the storm
Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just let you know that, you’re not alone

The Man Who Can’t Be Moved (The Script, 2008)

Cover of

The melody warmed my heart. The lyrics hit the bull’s eye. Danny sang it with unwavering love that I want to pick him up from that corner and let him out of the misery he is in.

The Man Who Can’t Be Moved is my favorite song from the Irish alternative rock band, The Script. They have been in the sidelines for quite a while but they are making waves in the music scene again as they release their new album, Science and Faith, this September. I got so excited that I played the songs from their first album on loop for weeks!

Let me share with you the best lines of the song.

Some try to hand me money, they don’t understand / I’m not broke I’m just a broken hearted man

And here’s another one:

People talk about the guy / Who’s waiting on a girl / There are no holes in his shoes / But a big hole in his world

Of course, the chorus will make every hopeless romantic cry for their lost loves, their ‘could-have-beens’, and their ‘the-ones-who-got-away’.

‘Cause if one day you wake up and find that you’re missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this earth I could be
Thinking maybe you’ll come back here to the place that we meet
Oh, you see me waiting for you on a corner of the street

Just the right song that will deeply move you.
